Why Wait?
What one simple question can teach us about how we choose to live.
Why Wait?
Two words that can change your entire viewpoint on life if you let them. And I think you should let them.
You’ve heard me on my soapbox about the fragility of life, the notion that nothing is guaranteed, and that the time is now to do the things we want to do (or not do!).
This week’s conversation profoundly brings that point home.
Brad Wolfe’s grandparents were both Auschwitz survivors; he grew up hearing stories of unimaginable suffering, survival, and the kind of love that can still exist after profound trauma.
And one of the legacies left to him by his grandmother, Sally, was the notion of Why Wait?
Why wait to live with more love, purpose, and compassion?

One of the things I loved most about this conversation was where it took us next: the role music can play in grief. It’s come up in previous conversations with guests like Jeff Brisbin, Austin Wolfe, and others. When Brad’s close friend Sara was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer, Brad found himself showing up at her bedside with his guitar. Writing songs for Sara during her illness was not only an offering to her, but it also became a reminder that we don't always have to fix grief; sometimes we simply have to accompany someone through it.
That same philosophy is at the heart of Brad's work with Reimagine, where he's helping create spaces for conversations about life, death, and everything in between. Whether we're talking about his grandmother's philosophy, the songs he wrote for Sara, or the work he's doing today, it all comes back to the same idea of showing up for the people we love while we still can.
Those two words have been stuck in my head all week. And as you go through your day, I hope Why Wait? stays with you.
Maybe because I know there are things I've been waiting on, too.
